National Parks

Spain has many national parks to offer travelers who are into strolling, biking, picnics or other activities. Below are some famous national parks in Spain.

1. Donania National Parks
Located in the provinces of Seville and Huelva with around 50,720 hectares of land. This park is ideal for sightseeing for South African birds and other species.

2. Tablas de Daimiel National Park
It covers up 1,982 hectares of land and is situated in a region known as La Mancha Humeda. The park consists mainly of large plains and wetlands and over 200 bird species can be seen here.

3. Montania de Covadonga National Park
The park occupies 17,000 hectares of land and is situated on the western peak of Picos de Europa between the Cares and Dobra rivers. It is a a botanical park and a place for several endangered animals.

4. Ordesa National Park
The park occupies 16,000 hectares of land is situated in Huesca Pyrenees near the National Park of the French Pyrenees. The Pyrenees mountain goats can be seen in Ordesa National Park.

5. Algues Tortes and Lago de Sant Maurici National Park
Occupies 10,230 hectares of land in the Lleida Pyrenees. It is surrounded by vast mountains, lakes and valleys.

6. Caniadas del Teide National Park
Occupies 13,500 hectares of land and is situated on the island of Tenerife. 50 rare species which grown exclusively in the Teide Mountain can be seen in this park.

7. Timanfaya National Park
This park covers 5,170 hectares of land and can be found in the island of Lanzarote. Volcanic formations can be seen in the Timanfaya park. Haria lizard which is a rare specie can be seen in this park.

8. Caldera de Taburiente National Park
This park covers 4,690 hectares of land and can be found in the island of La Palma. A huge caldera which was shaped out of erosion can be found in the Caldera National Park.

9. Garajonay National Park
Located in the island of Gomera, the Garajonay National Park occupies 3, 974 hectares of land. This park owns the only laurisylvan forests on the Canary archipelago.

10. Maritimo- Terrestre National Park
Occupies around 1,836 hectares of land in the Cabrera archipelago. It is the largest non- populated island in the Mediterranean. Wall lizards and sea birds can be seen in this park.
