Facilities and accommodation are being provided exclusively by the Italian State Tourist Office for those travelers with disabilities particularly in Rome and Florence.

Several travel agencies also offer customized tours, advices and extensive access to information regarding traveling for disabilities. Organizations that offer assistance includes SATH (Society for Accessible Travel and Hospitality) and the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB).

Italy has already started to become handicap-accessible. In the past, wheelchair access were non-existent, elevators in old buildings were rare and buses were not wheel-chair compatible.
