The most popular sport in Italy is soccer or calcio, cycling, bowls or bocce which is a kind of bowling and horse racing. The Italian national soccer team has won the World Cup three times in the past and everyone looks forward to the most anticipated cycling event held yearly called the Girod'Italia.

Italy's wide coast measuring around 8,500 km is a favorite destination for most tourists where they can enjoy several types of watersports. In the south of Italy a few winter sports options are also available where a large portion of Italians spend their time during winter.
