Telecom Italia is the national telephone company in Italy which provides the land line telephone services. Other telephone service providers include Infrostada, BTItaly, Tele2 and Tiscali.

The international country calling code of Italy is 39.

Cellular phones are also commonly used in Italy and are more or less the same brands as in any other country: Nokia, Siemens, Blackberry, etc. The four majors service providers for mobile telephones include H3G, TIM or Telecom Italia Mobile, Omnitel Vodafone and Wind.

It is also necessary to submit a tax code (codice fiscale) when applying for a cellphone contract.
