The French Language

The French language is the official language of France and is also spoken in other countries like Belgium, Luxembourg, Canada, Monaco, Morocco, Algeria, Lebanon and Switzerland. It is controlled by Academie Francaise and the Office Quebecois de la Langue Francaise. Around 300 million people nowadays speak French. It is an official language in 41 countries and is second from English as the most often taught language in the world.

French is the official language of several organizations like the European Broadcasting Union, African Union, European Union, ESA, Council of Europe, FIA, FIFA, FINA, ICUP, HUP, International Bureau of Weights and Measures, International Court of Justice, International Olympic Committee, International Political Science Association, International Secretariat for Water, Interpol, NATO, UCI, the United Nations, World Anti- Doping Agency and the World Trade Organization.
